We sponsor the Forward Poetry Prizes as part of National Poetry Day, an annual celebration of poetry. Now in their twenty second year, prizes are awarded for Best Collection, Best Single Poem and Best First Collection. Each year, poems from the shortlisted collections and those highly commended by the judges are published in an anthology, The Forward Book of Poetry.
National Poetry Day is an annual celebration of poetry, held on the first Thursday of October. This year it falls on Thursday October 3. Since 1994, it has engaged millions of people with events and activities for all ages throughout the UK. The Day was founded by William Sieghart of The Forward Arts Foundation to promote and increase enjoyment of poetry. We are currently updating our website, and the theme for 2013 will be announced shortly.
